This place is one of the best bargains in town. For like 6 people and 3 kids we spent like $40. It was cheap yet really good food. The tacos with the melted cheese were the best and I don't see the melted cheese often on menus at Mexican restaurants.
The salsa in the salsa bar wasn't properly labeled because something was far too hot and difficult to finish. However you really can't beat the price and the speed of service at this place.
They also have paletas (Mexican ice cream bars) and horchata here and all were tasty! -

Don Joaquin is a Mexican restaurant with the worlds most delicious tacos! Unlike other restaurants of the Mexican variety, Don Joaquin stays up late for your midnight taco craving! They produce their food quite fast and despite their cooking time, there are no corners cut on quality! When it comes to tacos, I personally prefer the chicken tacos, pollo is my go to. From the bits of other food I've had here (and I say bits, because I had what others couldn't finish), I can say that their other meal items don't under deliver.
Overall I give it 5 out of 5 stars, it is an authentic, delicious, late night taco run! -

Favorites were the pollo and al pastor. Pineapple salsa was too spicy for my wife, but perfect for me. -

Not from Provo but in passing found this place, the tacos here does not over promise and under deliver but are legitimately good Street tacos, great price point and quickly served, but by far the Al Pastor is the best, its really good.
Only 4 stars because if was 85 degrees in the restaurant, that makes any dining experience struggle. -

So much to love about Don Joaquin's! If delicious, inexpensive, and high quality street tacos are your thing, this is the place for you!
I've tried to get different kinds of tacos every time I've come and have never been disappointed. The biggest stand out for me by a long shot has been the Al Pastor. Definitely give that one a try! The food is just so cheap and fun. And I love the atmosphere and workers.
I don't quite feel like I can smack the 5 star button yet. If they would fix two small things, it would be so easy for me to do that though.
1. Label the salsa bar. I have been here before where it was labeled, but very poorly. And tonight when I came there weren't even any labels at all. It is nice to know what different kinds of salsas they've got that day. And is it ESPECIALLY nice to know the different heat levels. (May or may not have learned that one the hard way tonight...)
2. Because it is usually so busy, it can get kind of messy. And there is only ONE trash can for customers that piles up oh-so-quickly.
HOWEVER, those are two very small things and the pros of the tacos will always outweigh the cons of anything else. I really would give this place 4.5 stars if I could. I will definitely be back ASAP!
